I've just had a sneak preview of the new TypePad native app for the iPhone. It's simply stunning! I'm not talking about the current webbased version that can be found at http://i.typepad.com/, the new app is "native" which means it's downloaded and stored on your iPhone.

It going to be made available free of charge via the new App Store that's available on the iPhone 2.0 software due for release on July 11th 2008.

key features of the native app are speed and ease of use with an intuitive layout that's clearly been designed by TypePad users that own an iPhone, not just a borrowed iPhone, but one that use have been using day in and day out for some time before they start work on the app.

I found a great way of making a mobile version of your blog that's accessible on the latest mobile phones and cell phones.

It's free, quick and very easy. All you need to know is the address to your RSS feed, or at the very least have your blog RSS feed set to auto discover.

Get over to www.mippin.com and sign up for a free account. Enter a few details and you'll have a mobile version of your blog that's is automatically updated every time you make a spot on your blog.

The great thing about mippin is that they have 1000's of users already using the service, and your blog will be added to the main mippin mobile site. I added a couple of mine and got a few hundred new readers in the first 24 hours.

Both of these are provided by http://feedjit.com/

The first, is working really well on my iPod Blog. It's Feedjit's Collabarative Filter. A "Visitors Who Liked This Page Also Like..." widget. It's just a piece of javascript that goes in to your template and suggests other articles/posts ON YOUR SITE that may be of interest to the reader.

Now, because it's javascript it won't be of any help getting pages indexed by search engines, but visitors to your site will use it. They certainly on www.doipod.com.

TypePad users can add it via the Typepad Widget page here. Others can grab it from http://feedjit.com/

The second is more for your own use. It's feedjit's Live Traffic Map. You can see it action at the bottom of www.doipod.com. It provide you (and other interested) with a map showing where you visitors came from and what they viewed. It also shows the popularity of pages of your site. Interesting stuff.
