I really have to question the value of being listed on the various Blog Directories. As a method of marketing your commercial or business blog I'm not at all convinced that it generates visitors. You may get few trickling in, and I know that some bloggers insist that every little helps, but while compiling a list of marketing activities for a blog this has to be at the very bottom.
I'd go as far as to say that when you get to the 'Blog Roll' and 'Social Networking' items on your list, you'll never have time to waste on blog directories.
If there were any exception to this, it's ironic that a "blog guide" or "guide to blogging" such as The UK Bloggers Guide would probably be it. You'd think that a blog that targets bloggers would benefit most from being listed in a blog directory, but still I think it's a waste of time.
Sure, I've added this blog to britblog.com, but they're one of the reasons I've come to the conclusion that blog directories are a waste of our valuable time. Seems the only people that benefit from you being listed in a blog directory is the blog directory themselves. Most, if not all insist that you include a link back to them.
Quick follow up. It's been 7 days since I submitted The UK Bloggers Guide to britblog.com
Not heard a thing from them.
They really are a waste of fookin time. I've dropped them an email asking them to activate the account and I've removed their button from this blog. There certainly don't deserve any free traffic.
I'll keep you posted.
