Before I introduce The UK Bloggers Guide and myself, I need to give you a quick disclaimer and my definition of 'a successful blog'.
UK BLOGGERS GUIDE DISCLAIMER
Everything you read here (other users comments aside) is the opinion of a full time blogger based in the UK. This fledgling guide was created because of the subtle, yet sometimes significant challenges a UK blogger faces.
Right or wrong, all posts are based on my personal experience.
I never blog about my wife, kids, pets, car or hobbies etc. All of my blogging, prior to launching this guide, is rooted in generating revenue so while I hope the UK BLOGGERS GUIDE is of use to all types of bloggers, those of you also blogging in a commercial and/or business capacity will find this more useful as I can only write with you in mind.
DEFINITION OF A SUCCESSFUL BLOG
"A popular blog" - That's it.
It's my opinion that popularity is all that matters. Only when you have a popular blog can you achieve any secondary objectives you may have for your blog.
ABOUT ME
My name is Fox Tucker, I've been blogging since June 2006, and it's been a full time job, generating a full time income since March 2007. My secondary objective for my blogs is to generate revenue. There may be other reasons to blog, such as improving your customers experience and sharing information with family and friends, but I only blog to generate revenue.
I have 3 blogs that I use to generate an income on a daily basis. A 4th I have just deleted because it was shite and failed miserably.
ABOUT THE UK BLOGGERS GUIDE
It's ironic considering my secondary objective, that my motivation for creating The UK Bloggers Guide isn't money. It's born out of the frustration of trying to create a successful blog in a world dominated by North American bloggers and support services geared to aid them.
Your quest to create a successful blog will eventually lead you to discover a number of really useful tools and services to aid your blogging.
Like me, after a while you'll consider some of these tools essential, but you will waste a great deal of time fucking about with totally useless stuff. Useless to you and I because it's geared to North American bloggers, bless 'em.
So The UK Bloggers Guide is aimed squarely at bloggers in the U.K., and while I inevitably touch on generating revenue from your blog, I'm keen to focus on creating, managing and marketing your blog. Remember that a successful blog is a popular blog. So let's work on making our blogs successful.
Hello Fox:
Since you constantly talk about blogging tips, I am writing to see if you would be interested in writing about a new service recently launched to help increase bloggers'
readership.
Here is a little bit about the service.
-------------------------------------------------
BloggrZ Toolbar(http://www.BloggrZ.com/toolbar) and BloggrZ.com are services for bloggers and blog-explorers.
Through the use of BloggrZ Toolbar, bloggers get to explore other blogs, get their own blogs explored and increase
readership. Blog-explorers, on the other hand, get to view the online world through bloggers' eyes. The toolbar remembers the
preferences set by a user and shows blogs based on those interests. Preferences can be updated any time.
BloggrZ.com allows you to submit blogs that will be reviewed by all through BloggrZ Toolbar and BloggrZ.com website and will
be promoted, based on popularity, to the main page of BloggrZ.com. Anyone can submit a blog. The blog will then be shown
through toolbar and will also be available on BloggrZ.com website for votes and comments. When a user submits a blog it will
be placed in the "Recently Submitted" area until it gains sufficient votes to be promoted to the main page.
"When you love blogs so much, why stumble all over the web? There is a better way to easily discover great blogs and let your
blog get discovered. All based on your preferences. Get your BloggrZ Toolbar today! "
Currently the toolbar is available for firefox users only.
The site is still in its alpha stage. Your feedback, support and participation is critical for its success.
