I just noticed that I hadn't set up PingShot in my free Feedburner.com account, what an idiot! It only takes 5 minutes, but I guess I just over looked it. Once activated, PingShot automatically pings a number of services to let them know you've made a post on on your blog.
By default it'll ping Technorati, My Yahoo, Bloglines, Ping-o-matic and Newsgator. You can also select up to 5 more services to ping from a drop down list.
Here's a quick guide to pinging or ping, if you're unfamiliar with the terms.
I chose icerocket, Weblogs.Com, Syndic8, FeedBlitz and the Google Blog Search Pinging Service. I only chose these because I had already heard of them. You may decide to choose 5 others.
How To Set Up PingShot
1. Log in to your feedburner.com account.
2. Select 'my feeds' at the top of the page.
3. Choose your feed from the list.
4. Select the 'publicize' tab.
5. Select 'PingShot' in the left hand menu.
6. Hit the 'Activate' button.
7. Now add the 5 additional ping services of your choice from the drop down menu.
8. Finally, hit the 'save' button.
There, now every time you post on your blog, PingShot will notify the services. Every little helps.
