As a commercial blogger, my primary revenue is generated through the use of advertising space on my blogs. Regardless of whether it's through an ad network such as Google Adsense, selling the ad space directly to those wanting to advertise on my pages, or using affiliate marketing ads... certain advertising locations tend to be more successful than others.
So where are the best places to place the ads?
We know that advertisements placed 'above the fold' tend to perform better that ads shown way down the page, but surely there is more to it than that?
There is, and this "heat map" illustrates the ideal ad placements on a sample page layout. Its uses colors that fade from dark orange (strongest performance) to light yellow (weakest performance) to indicate the best positions for ad placement on your blog.
The "heat map" is provided by Google to users of their Google Adsense program, but it's relevant to all bloggers regardless of whether they show Adsense ads.
